The McWeeney Trophy

Next weekend, (22nd and 23rd September) the teams representing the Croquet Association of Ireland and the Croquet Association of England will battle for the McWeeney Trophy at Carrickmines. The trophy was presented by Myles McWeeney in memory of his mother Vera (a club member since the 1920s who passed away in 1981) and is competed for annually; the trophy itself was originally his father’s cigar box.

The Irish team is Patsy Fitzgerald, Nathaniel Healy (C), Evan Newell, Daniel Bennett, Alan Looney and Myles McWeeney (playing in the event for the first time). Do come along and support them.
