Carrickmines Tennis Player Pathway

Goals

1) Improve tennis in the club to the level where Carrickmines is consistently competing at the top tier of Irish tennis.

2) Develop our juniors through to senior level. Maintain them as members in the club encouraging other juniors to join.

3) Improving Standards across the board, (all members)

Operation

The Tennis Development Committee (TDC) is responsible for the Pathway plan and oversees its implementation. The Pathway is flexible and continually evolves to meet club requirements. The TDC reports to the Main Committee on a quarterly basis.

The members of the TDC include:

  • Chairperson who oversees finances of the TDC,
  • The Club President,
  • Tennis Director, who is responsible for day to day activities and selecting squads. The Tennis Director also organises and manages a suitable coaching team.
  • Junior Captain –Along with the Tennis Director selects junior panels and coaches / hitters for squads.
  • The Ladies & Men’s Captain – select league panels for coaching

Tiers

There are four tiers in the pathway, starting at the entry level “Participation” tier which is open to all and focuses on the basics and tennis for fun, and ending at the top tier “High Performance” which is open to the top juniors in the club. The tiers are shown in the diagram below.

Pathway Overview

The Tennis Pathway Chart provides an overview of the coaching groups and squads in each tier and the pathway options available for each player. In addition to the coaching, there are also a wide range of supporting events for juniors in the Pathway program.
