Croquet Championships of Ireland 2025

Croquet Championships of Ireland 2025

The Association Croquet Championships of Ireland were held in Carrickmines from 2nd to 9th of August. We had three UK based competitors including the manager of the event and highest ranked player David Maugham along with his wife Alison also highly ranked.

The event catered for all levels with nine graded events including singles and doubles.

There was great female participation this year with four of the events won by women! Participants were aged from 17 all the way through to 80s – a true equal opportunity sport.

The event was marked in particular this year by the success of golf croquet players who have recently taken up association croquet and can use their clearance and hoop running skills to great effect. Some deep handicap cuts were made post the event. The most prolific winner was Celine Reilly, Chairman of the Croquet Association of Ireland, who took home three first prizes.

Our thanks goes to all who made the event such a success including the management team of David Maugham, Alan Looney, Sandy Greig and Huw Spiers. And not least to our groundsman Simon Williams who maintained the lawns in top shape all week. Thanks to our President Helen Pilkington for presiding at the presentation of prizes at the closing dinner on Saturday night.
