05 Sep CTC U12 international Carrickmines Cup
Last week end saw our club host the 13th running of the Centenary Tennis Clubs U12 International Carrickmines Cup. 8 teams competed of which 6 were from overseas with 2 teams from Carrickmines. This is a very significant event in our calendar every year and by far the biggest annual CTC competition held by any club. Congratulations to I Cesky from Prague, who were victorious this year beating Carrickmines in a closely fought final.
In keeping with the ethos of the CTC competition weekend, we had high quality tennis but also hospitality and friendship. Congratulations to Pat Crowe for looking after the tennis part of the weekend. Denise Mason did her usual outstanding job on the friendship and hospitality aspects of the weekend. Under her direction all the visiting children (including 4 not expected) were hosted by club members for the week-end and a huge thank you to members who did this. Thank you also to all members who helped out on the catering side including our BBQ chef Louise Connolly who flipped and cooked 100 burgers. All the players enjoy the week-end and for many of them this is their first “international “ tennis experience. Indeed many of these players will develop into serious players and most of our own current first team will have started with this competition.
