01 Jul Carrickmines Junior Open report

It was great to have a big competition back in the club for the first time in two years. 400 juniors descended on Carrickmines playing in 24 events. It was the first big open competition since reopening.

Thanks to Denise and her team for their fantastic organisation and implementation of a tough Covid policy in a friendly manner.  Also, thanks to all the members for their continued support and assistance and to KPMG for again sponsoring the tournament.

We were lucky to have such good weather that made it run so smoothly. The best junior players in Ireland with sixty-five Carrickmines juniors participated in the different events using the new Tennis Ireland grading system.

Special congratulations to Alannah Wilkinson on winning the U16 Girls 1000 event, the highest ranking event, and to Ben Connolly on winning the U12 Boys Doubles 1000.
