Please note following limitations on croquet lawns for both Open Tennis weeks:

June:     Friday 14 – Sunday 16: one croquet lawn available

                         Monday 17 – Friday 21: one croquet lawn available before 2pm

                                                  and after 7pm

                        Saturday 22: one lawn available after 6pm

July:        Saturday 6 – Sunday 7: no croquet lawns available

                        Monday 8 – Friday 12: one croquet lawn available before 3pm

                        Saturday 13: no croquet lawns available

Congratulations to the Irish team of Andrew Johnston, Simon Williams, Ed Cunningham, Danny Johnston and Patsy FitzGerald who won the Home Internationals on 8/9 June. This annual event between the 4 nations of England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales was hosted by Carrickmines. The Irish team had not won it since 2001 and were narrowly pipped the last two years, so it was a fantastic result to drop only 2 matches from the 15 played.

Whilst we await photos and a match report, we can ponder the following statistics from Wales' Chris Williams: "Ireland won the Home Internationals for the fourth time and in beating England 4-1 inflicted the heaviest defeat England have suffered in the 34 years the Home Internationals have been taking place. This was only England's fifth defeat in 94 matches in the Home Internationals and their heaviest in all competitions since the 5-2 defeat by New Zealand in the MacRobertson Shield in December 1950."

A very successful Co.Dublin Championships took place over the June Bank Holiday weekend, Simon Williams winning the Open Singles. Photos and managers report will follow shortly.

Well done to the Irish contingent at the GC World Championships in Cairo, with three of their four players reaching the knockout stage. Particular congratulations to Jack who finished 5th out of 64, being the only player all week to win a match against the ultimate winner Reg Bamford from South Africa. Good luck to Evan Newell, Simon WIlliams, Jack Clingan and Ed Cunningham who represent Ireland in Cairo at the Golf Croquet World Championships, which Mark McInerney won in 2011. Mark is not defending his title, but the four representatives have trained hard and are ready for the battle against the very strong Egyptian players on their home turf! The championship runs from April 21-28 and results can be followed here.

Well done to the hardy members who braved fresh conditions on Easter Sunday and Monday. No Association was played, but plenty of Golf Croquet kept everyone active and warm, along with breaks for yummy lunch and coffees!
